Jeff Derksen is a poet, culture critic, editor, and is a former editor of Writing magazine who has long been associated with the Kootenay School of Writing. His work has been anthologized in East of Main, Verse: Postmodern Poetry and Language Writing and Writing Class. As well, his critical writing on globalization and culture, poetry, architecture, and art has been published in North America and Europe. In addition to Transnational Muscle Cars, he has published two previous works of poetry with Talonbooks: Down Time, which won the 1991 B.C. Book Prize's Dorothy Livesay Poetry Award, and Dwell. He was recently a research Fellow at the Center for Place, Culture and Politics at City University of New York Graduate Center. Born in New Westminster, B.C., he is an Assistant Professor in the Department of English at Simon Fraser University.
